One day in July my coworker said to me, “Hey! There might be something wrong with your blog. I’ve not received any notices of new posts recently.” (Not a direct quote but how I remember it! Haha!) I promise we have not given up on the blog but it had to be moved to the side until we made it through a busy season since the first weekend in May. I’ve only been able to keep up with Instagram–barely. Here’s what’s been going on. Take a breath. I’m exhausted just writing about it.

- No RV: Our Cougar was at the dealer for 6 weeks to get 90 day warranty work done (without having to pay a labor fee). It takes a while to get parts these days. The timing actually worked out well because we had NO time to camp. Keep reading to find out why.
- Graduations:
- Jon and I both have to work at the university graduations where we work which are on different weekends. Jon deals with all the technology and I am a lead marshal for all the students in the auditorium.
- We had a future daughter-in-law at the time graduate from one of our universities and we hosted her graduation lunch at our house.
- Three weeks later our third son graduated from high school and we had his Open House feeding quite a few people.
- We also had a nephew and close friend graduate from other high schools on different weekends–plus all of the other open houses for the local friends.
- Weddings:
- We had a nephew marry one of our friends’ daughters (that we’ve known since she was 2). Jon was a part of the ceremony since we were considered one of their matchmakers due to our long friendship with the family.
- There was a bridal shower for our future daughter-in-law. Our oldest son was married at the end of June to this gorgeous bride. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception!! I know the groom’s side is supposed to be easy but there’s still a lot to get done with the rehearsal dinner and preparation. All 4 of our children were in the wedding party and 5 of us needed alterations to our outfits so there was a lot of back and forth with that. Then all the girls have to work on hair and makeup. Of course we also had to spend time in Indy searching for a suit for the groom. The company the groomsmen ordered their suits from told our son his wouldn’t arrive until after the wedding date. Yikes! We found one that matched pretty well. Thankfully! Once they returned from their honeymoon we also hosted the gift opening since we’re halfway between the happy couple and her parents.
- We also had two different nephews get married one at the end of July and another at the end of August–all 2+ hours away.
- Moves:
- Jon had to move his office on campus for the 12th time since he started working there. This office is only temporary while they use his last building for student COVID isolation.
- My office suite moved down the hall so that was exciting. (I have a big window now. Insert big grin emoji here!)
- Our oldest son moved apartment buildings to a nicer and larger place before the wedding. Of course, we are the ones with the truck and the ability to pull a U-haul. However, we’ve made 3 trips down to Indy for all these moves. The initial move. The bedroom suit we had been refinishing move (which took a boatload of time to redo during this crazy season). And the larger wedding gifts.
- Jon had to move his office AGAIN because he added on an interim position after someone left.
- Two sons moved into their dorm at college–our youngest son for the first time.
- Church: Jon and I were busy serving at church many Sundays which means we are there the entire morning. Jon also had a few funerals and a couple of weddings in there where he ran sound. I was helping to schedule the Worship Team as well for a couple of months.
- Camping: We finally made it to a few spots over the summer since our last blog, so we have some places to catch up on!
- Clifty Falls State Park, Indiana
- Brower County Park on the Muskegon River in Michigan
- Muscatatuck County Park, Indiana
- Turkey Run State Park, Indiana

So along with everything else we had going on including working full-time for each of us, it just became a survival affair! So I promise to keep more blogs coming in the future. There’s already one draft about mountain biking on the way. So, Lisa, thanks for noticing!
